A report of the March 2010 Counselors’ UK Tour operated on behalf of OACAC

What a great week we had! It didn’t get off to the most auspicious start unfortunately, with four cancellations, some at the last minute – thanks British Airways!

Eventually on Sunday March 21st, 9 international high school counselors arrived in London for a week of touring the UK capital’s universities.

Visiting Richmond - The American University in London, Royal Holloway, Imperial College, University College London, Goldsmiths College, City University, the School of Oriental and  African Studies, the London School of Economics and Kings College London we were all impressed with the facilities and opportunities they offer for students.

Throughout the week we managed to get some true London experiences, especially on the morning that one of the tube lines wasn’t working and we had to cram into one train for the ride through town – those of you in Tokyo and using the subway there, we salute you! We also managed to visit some interesting parts of the city – the ‘vibrant’ New Cross sticks in my mind, I am not sure about some of our other group members, Kristen from KL seemed to fall in love with all of it. Can’t say I shared her opinion of the crowds and sheer number of people moving all around – I guess living a little bit further on than the back of beyond, is just what I need!

Many, many thanks are due to all of our host institutions and to the participants for being a great group to get along with. For those of you who are thinking you should have come along, next year we will have more on offer – look for the announcements.
